Terms, Conditions, and License

Overview

As a work at least partially in collaboration with publicly funded university programs, most of this Journalism Watchdogs project content and its products are in the public domain within the United States. Some of it, though, is shared here via special considerations. So please check with the Principal Investigator, Brett Oppegaard, before reuse of, for example, provided images.

In general practice, this site adheres to the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license protocols. In legalese, your use of this material is guided by this specific document. A non-binding summary of that license, though, can be found below.

License summary

This is a human-readable summary of the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) Legal Code. For the fine-grained specifics, though, please consult with the full legal text.

You are free to Share

Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

You are free to Adapt

Remix, transform, and build upon the material.

BUT, you must attribute

You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

The use MUST be noncommercial

You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

The use MUST be ShareAlike

If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

The use CANNOT add additional restrictions

You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

The use CANNOT state or imply our endorsement or a warranty

Unless expressly stated otherwise, we make no warranties about the materials here and disclaim liability for all uses of it, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. When using or citing the work, you should not imply our endorsement or a warranty of any kind by us, either expressed or implied. Use of this site is at your own risk, whatever that could mean. The content is provided "as is." Why do we put this verbiage in here? Because someone might do something stupid and try to blame us for it. Well, that's not nice, and we disclaim all warranties. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, the site will have an error in it, or it breaks, or there is inaccurate content on here. There might even be some typos. If you let us know about those, we'll fix them.

Our liability is severely limited

We, meaning anyone involved with this site in any way shape or form, will not be liable for any incidental, direct, indirect, punitive, actual, consequential, special, extraordinary, exemplary, bizarre, or otherwise concocted damages, including loss of revenue or income, pain and suffering, emotional distress, property damage, or similar damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no situation will our collective liability exceed the amount you have paid us for this content and these services. Since you have paid us nothing, you do the math.
